About

We are a partnership of two doctors working from a beautifully restored Georgian Mansion in the centre of Whitehaven. We are proud to be able to offer a broad range of services to our patients.

Our healthcare team consists of seven doctors, four practice nurses, and three advanced nurse practitioners and three health care assistants.

MANSION HOUSE ReceptionThe Healthcare Team is supported by the receptionist/administrators who help with the running of the practice. All patient information is treated with the strictest confidence.

Health Visitors and Community Nurses are attached to the practice. They work jointly with the doctors. If you would like to speak to them please leave a message with the receptionist and your message will be passed on.

Further details about this practice and others in the area are available through the NHS Choices website: www.nhschoices.co.uk

Disabled Access

There is good access for the disabled to all of our consultation rooms. The surgery has a ramp and wide doors to allow for wheelchair access.

UCLAN/Medical Education

Mansion House Surgery is also an accredited training practice. As a training practice we employ doctors for fixed periods of time who are fully qualified as hospital doctors, but who are gaining experience and training to be a GP.

As part of their learning assessment our training GPs need to record patient consultations but no consultations will be recorded without a patient’s prior written consent and intimate physical examinations will not be recorded. The consultations will be used for training purposes only, will be turned off on request, and deleted after a consultation if requested.

Our Green Impact

This practice is delighted to be signed up to the Green Impact for Health Toolkit and is actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The climate emergency is also a health emergency, and health care in the UK contributes 5.4% of the UK’s carbon emissions. We need to enhance the health of our current population without compromising the health of future generations, and this means operating within the sustainable boundaries of the planet. Fortunately most of the solutions for the planet also make our health better – for example eating a mainly plant-based diet, engaging in active travel and exercise in nature, avoiding smoking, reducing pollution etc all enhance our health and reduce our need for medications, with further benefits to the NHS, your health and the carbon footprint of healthcare.

Take a look at www.greenerpractice.co.uk to learn more about this.
